Designation: Hookback Altmode: A small cybertronian hover-driven vehicle with added rockets (same altmode as Bumblebee has in War Within). Allegiance: Decepticon (for now, Autobot possibly later)
Designation: Failsafe Altmode: Spark/energy lock, a medical tool to lock (vital) energies in place so repairs can be made while not worrying about the patient offlining. Allegiance: Minicons. Autobot if he has to choose.
Designation: Bypass Alt: A small jet aircraft. Colours: White and red, with gold details, blue optics. Faction: Neutral/Autobot
Ability: None (or, anastethic electro shock shots, channeled through his fingers (he has to use at least one whole hand, preferably both. Similar to null-rays, but they don't disrupt electrical flow as much as slow it, targeting it through sensory nodes to shut down pain response and sedating a patient/opponent as necessary.) Weapons: None, except for tools such as laser scalpels. Function: Paramedic/emergency first responder, nurse, and, during the war, combat medic.
Creators: The Matrix (or Vector Sigma in a G1/IDW-verse). Caretaker was (? - not decided yet).
Personality: Perky in a way that can seem grating or as if he doesn't take his job seriously, Bypass can and does get serious in tense/emergency situations; he's a professional, just naturally light of spark, and being "fluffy" around patients can sometimes soothe frazzled nerves or direct attention away from how serious any injuries are (or aren't). But for all that he's perky, Bypass does have some issues being sociable. Handling patients and being caring isn't an issue, or doing it genuinely, but put him in a personal social situation, and it gets harder for him. Thus, it's somewhat easier for Bypass to make friends through his work and then go into the personal from there, whether that be with collegues or patients. He's supremely hard to insult or make angry, Bypass has the patience of Primus himself... until it comes to his patients, or others in vulnerable positions or situations.
Nevermind that given his lack of armaments, strength or heavy combat-grade armour, Bypass could easily land *himself* in situations where he needs help of some sort. Help that he knows to take, but he also would never hesitate to get himself in trouble if it means helping or protecting someone else, or doing his job. He's a bit too brave for his own good, but given his occupation and the sort of accident sites he might need to land and intervene in, it's simply a necessity.
Not that he *hasn't* frozen up a time or two, hesitated in the face of some accident or situation, from indecision or even fear for his own life, for who *doesn't*? It has, luckily, as far as *Bypass* knows, not led to any injured mechs *dying* (in the past, or "yet"), but that very possibility in the face of his momentary past and future potential failings haunt him, and drive him to not let his fear or indecision freeze him up when they *do* happen. He's a paramedic and nurse by choice, not for lack of skill or attention; Bypass is *very* good at what he does, and reasons that medics, surgeons and doctors need skilled assistants and first responders, for if all medical assistants were sub-par, where would the level of care end up then?
Bypass is a caring, compassionate person towards others, injured or not... He just as an easier time *being* compassionate and caring towards his patients (or those he already is comfortable with), and loves assisting/giving help, but he's not actually a *pacifist*. He understands that sometimes violence might be necessary, but he doesn't have the easiest time to inflict it himself... not because he's a pacifist, but rather because he knows exactly what sort of pain he's causing, and *that* pains him.
Background: Bypass started out as a nurse, and a small, four-wheeled vehicle, but when he was close enough to an accident that he could provide first help until the ambulance-alted medics arrived, he was presented with the idea of becoming a paramedic. Liking that, Bypass went through further training and education, and also got put through some adaptability and aptitude tests to see how much of a flex he indivdidually had for being reformatted into a completely different altmode. Having been deemed "flexible enough", a request was sent in and approved for reformats until the best fitting alt that worked with Bypass could be found, to give him the fastest response time to emergency calls. As a paramedic, Bypass isn't supposed to transport injured off the site of accident, but rather get there as soon as possible and minimise the injuries present, or keep injured alive until medics/transport-capable medical staff can arrive to move the injured to where they can be treated.
Bypass thus went from a four-wheeled vehicle, to a land-hover, to a large two-wheeled vehicle and then a flight-hover and finally full flight as a small ("miniwing") jetcraft. Proving to adapt to full flying altmode with aplomb and thus giving him the greatest speed and most poossible chance to each accident sites as fast as possible, the reformat was declared finished and official and Bypass' education as an emergency first responder finished. He was later introduced to a shuttle-alt medic who was also a cassette host, with the intention that they'd make a complete mobile medical team. He wasn't the *first* paramedic the group had been introduced to, but he was the first that... stuck.
Motto: "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of you. You'll be fine."
Designation: Foxface Alt: Turbofox Colours: Silver, detailing in pink and purple, golden optic band. Faction: Neutral/Autobot (Sub-faction: Minibots)
Ability: Speed. Foxface isn't just fast enough to seamlessly blend in among a pack of turbofoxes (though he is larger), he can also *selectively* use his speed in just a limb or two (so, for example, while standing still, grabbing something "too fast to be seen"). Weapons: A high-concussion photon sniper rifle and two small, light blasters. Function: Scout/spy. Professional companion. Sniper.
Creator(s): The Matrix, for Emirate Ragna Major. Money buys a lot of things, even (or especially) questionable demands on a protoform's altmode. Sparked as one of five others of "companions and assistants" (though all five didn't share altmode) to Ragna Major.
Personality: Foxface can most easily be described as "twitchy and suspicious". Somewhat paranoid and worried, it's safer to give him a gun and stick him at the back of a battlefield, or on a roof (or not on the battlefield at all, as a scout or spy), than with a blaster and in the thick of things. The reason is that he tends to lose his composure and think *everybody* is after him. Friendly fire isn't just a possibility with Foxface, but a matter of "when", not "if". Conversely, this personality trait lends him to being rather savvy when it comes to figuring people out; if they're lying, hiding something, being truthful, or are worried or upset. He's not much of a people person in the social/large gatherings sense, but as long as he's assured of his safety, Foxface is friendly, calm and invested in another person's peace of mind.
He's a touchy-feely type, giving hugs, passing brushes or touches when talking or passing - as long as it's wanted, as he is, as noted, pretty good at telling what a person wants/can take or not. As long as he's sure of where he's standing with someone (as in, whether they will attack him or not) Foxface is usually "bad" at personal space. He likes getting close, adding his physical presence to his words, though the smallest indication whoever he's talking to doesn't like the closeness and he backs off, usually while apologising. Philosophically laid and not half-bad with poetry or telling stories, Foxface likes order and to make things ordered (stories, after all, have particular structures depending on the type of story you are/want to tell), but not to a crippling degree.
Background: Foxface was made - literally - to be a companion... Which isn't *exactly* as sordid as it sounds, even if he *has* performed some "duties" many might consider to belong in a close and willing relationship. Really, Foxface doesn't mind *that*; it helped loosen tension and set Ragna Major at ease, better than anything else at those particular points in time... No, what Foxface minds more - even if it's part of his reason for having been given spark - is the fact that he's the literal and proverbial fox for Ragna Major's hunting hounds. This is, of course, nothing that is, or was, supposed to be common knowledge. Hunting turbofoxes is one thing... hunting a mech who doesn't exactly have any choice in the matter in the guise of a turbofox for added intelligence and "sport" is another completely. This, then, is part of the reason for Foxface's rather nervous personality. He's used to literally being prey and is more or less tuned to consider anyone a potential predator and ready to run.
Besides that, and providing such things as stories or other reading, Foxface functioned as Ragna Major's secretary basically, which lasted until the fight in which Ragna Major died. The only reason he survived and came with Flicker and Ragna Major to the Autobots was that she'd kept him at her side and he'd stayed there as the fight went on.
The four mechs designated as his "hunting hounds" were Pounce, Farsight, Nightrunner and Waveguide. Farsight and Waveguide were both flight capable (similar to War Within Swoop's design/altmode), while Pounce and Nightrunner started out with altmodes similar to that of (War Within) Ravage, but when they joined the Decepticons Pounce got a low-ground, racing type and thus bot-looking frame and altmode, while Nightrunner simply... "upgraded"; he's larger but otherwise looks the same. These four all survived the attack, and were, in fact, part of the reason the
Decepticons had found Ragna Major's group of neutral nobles. They joined the Decepticons. They also have the tendency to view Foxface as "theirs", and while Foxface doesn't agree where with they've ended up, and thus their views and methods, he doesn't... precisely... disagree with that view itself (completely heathly or not). Despite this group having spent a lot of time actively chasing him into his rather twitchy personality, Foxface also *knows* these mechs, who and what they are and (bizarrely) feels safe with them. He knows, even with the faction divide (when he finds out they survived at all), that they wouldn't hurt him. (Waveguide is basically communications, Nightrunner is their leader and functioned as Ragna Major's bookkeeper, Pounce worked alongside (but in lesser capacity) Flicker as bodyguard/enforcer while Farsight was)
Designation: Razorback, sometimes called Raze Alt: Rotorcraft of intermediate/light type. Was heavier before the war. Colours: Sky blue and teal/turqoise, with gold optics. Faction: Neutral
Ability: None (or, after intentional manipulation of spark and his power chip rectifier, "emptying" it of previous data and making him capable of temporarily borrowing someone else's ability). Weapons: Energo-shock prod. Function: Scientist, aerial support, emergency (as in, if there's no other medic around, he can do a passable job) medic.
Creators: The Matrix (or Vector Sigma in a G1/IDW-verse). Caretaker was Burntime.
Personality: Razorback is a curious sort. As in, he likes to poke around nearly *everything* to find how things work, and as such could partly be considered a scientific jack of all trades, master of none, but he has specializations in metallurgy, social patterns/psychiatry (but he's NOT a psychiatrist) and frame modification.
He's always been interested in how other people react to situations and words, which means he sometimes... say something he doesn't actually mean, in order to see how someone reacts, or to provoke a particular reaction (to see if his theory is correct, or see if saying this will bring up that, in this person, etc)... He's technically not manipulative because he usually does it for curiosity/knowledge's sake, but he *can* be prodded into it if the people he's with want him/acts like they want him to do it. He does, however, rather enjoy making people react as per what he's saying/hypothised their reaction would be.
He doesn't have much of a filter and can be affected by other people's unconscious or intentionally projected intentions, emotions or percieved intents. Razorback is aware of this, as this "sensitivity" is part of the reason he got interested in how people react/making others react in the first place, and can be somewhat antisocial when he doesn't feel like dealing with it/isn't interested in actual interaction. Others would probably describe him as sharp, "brittle" and and (too) intense and withdrawn at once. Tiring, if not necessarily difficult, to deal with. Especially the experiments he's done on himself has left him somewhat... "off", though not necessarily offputting.
If there is one mech Razorback is always straight with and would never attempt to manipulate or play with, its the mech who was his initial caretaker as a protoform. Burntime is *important*, and Razorback would do nearly anything for him, to make him proud, or to keep him safe.
Background: Attended the same academy as Starscream and Jetfire, left early in the war on a scientific exploratory mission with Distrail, Sweep, Moonquake, Starquake, Dark Nebula, Spacetouch, Burntime, Whiteout and Driptorch (only the last two are grounders), of which Distrail, Sweep and Dark Nebula are nominally Decepticons, and Burntime, Whiteout and Driptorch are nominally Autobots (as in, they share sympathies with, and may have some contacts with respective faction, but nothing more) while the rest are neutrals pretty much unaware or staunchly against taking sides. During the mission, Razorback, interested in what made any given spark and frame mech or femme and any other... differences... set about experimenting and exploring these spark-deep differences. With *himself* only, probably luckily. He's probably lucky he's still alive and functioning as well as he *is*, because he was certainly successful in poking about himself, but it's led to some finicky refuelling issues (too much, too little, unpredictable effects on his frame both with normal and high grade), a pendulum-style effect on his endurance and his spark/frame sometimes giving confusing in/output when Razorback's lost complete control over which "state" he's in.
Razorback's relationship with Burntime, even this far past their initial "protoform/caretaker" relationship has been done, is still close. Razorback wants Burntime to be proud of him, and he'd do nearly anything to make sure the mech is safe (despite the fact that, overall, Burntime wouldn't need physical protection, and Raze isn't exactly made to provide it). The same goes for Burntime, who knows his former (and somewhat current) charge's idiosyncracies, and while he knows Razorback can take care of himself, he also knows the mech is... sharp unto brittleness. And that he tends to get such crazy ideas such as experimenting on himself, and even - *somehow* - managing to *do it* as well.
